I am a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in hip and knee arthroplasty, trauma and limb reconstruction.
I am an established hip and knee surgeon, and have been a Consultant in NHS Tayside since 2012. I qualified from the University of Dundee in 2002, and trained in Tayside and Glasgow. I am fellowship trained in Lower Limb Arthroplasty and Computer Assisted Orthopaedic Surgery at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital Clydebank and in Limb Reconstruction at the Russian Ilizarov Centre for Restorative Traumatology and Orthopaedics, Kurgan, Siberia. I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and hold a diploma in Sport and Exercise Medicine. I am an accredited trainer, a Senior Clinical Teacher at the University of Dundee, and a European Trauma Course Instructor.
My clinical practice centres on hip and knee replacement surgery. I treat patients of all ages from across Scotland with hip and knee replacement surgery and practice enhanced recovery techniques, as well as being able to offer daycase hip and knee replacement.
I am one of a small number of surgeons in Scotland accredited to perform the Conformis knee replacement, a personalised knee replacement manufactured to fit your own knee, rather than using an “off the shelf” implant. This leads to less pain, higher satisfaction rates and a more natural feeling knee.
My outside interests include cycling and running, and a love of adventure and travel with my family.
